Meet Our 2022-2023 SkillsUSA VT State Officer Team!
Aidan Kimball (President)
St. Johnsbury Academy
Culinary Arts and Commercial Baking
Hello everyone! My name is Aidan Kimball. I am currently an enrolled Senior at St. Johnsbury Academy, in St. Johnsbury, VT. While I have a passion for the culinary world and have been in the kitchen since I was just a toddler, my true mission is to promote the topic of diversity. I believe that in today’s society, we should live in a world where we are all treated equally no matter the circumstance and I strive for just that. I am proud to be who I am, and I want every other person out there on their own journey to love themselves for who they are. Each person matters and everyone can make a difference. For the future, the dream is to open my own restaurant. I look forward to starting this new journey with SkillsUSA and representing this organization for the state of Vermont.
Amera Severtson (Secretary)
Central Vermont Career Center
Cosmetology
Hello! My name is Amera Severtson. I am a senior attending the Central Vermont Career and Technical Center in Barre, VT. I am a second-year student in the Cosmetology program. I competed in SkillsUSA in the spring of 2022 and won the Gold medal in the Job Skills Demonstration A competition. I love science and math and utilize those skills in Cosmetology. I am OSHA 10 Certified, I earned my ACT WorkKeys Career Readiness certification at a Silver level, Student Leader in my CTE's Student Leadership Program, and I am the student Representative for the Vermont State Board of Education. I chose to be a SkillsUSA Officer because I loved the role of responsibility. I believe heavily in student voice and opinion and use my leadership positions, like being a SkillsUSA Officer, as a way to spread my passion. I can't wait to graduate and continue my education in Georgia, where I plan to obtain my full amount of state-required hours to become a Master Barber and major in Business and Entrepreneurship. Along with attending the police academy to also fulfill my dream of being a police officer.
Emma Dana (Vice President)
River Valley Technical Center
Level 2 Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering
Hello everyone! My name is Emma Dana. I am a senior at River Valley Technical Center in Springfield. This is my third year in the Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering program, and I am pursuing an independent study in architecture. I plan to study architecture in college. This is my fourth year as a member of SkillsUSA. In addition to being one of SkillsUSA Vermont’s Co-Presidents last year, I have competed in the Quiz Bowl, Related Technical Math, and Mobile Robotics competitions, earning a silver medal in Mobile Robotics and a gold medal in Quiz Bowl and Related Technical Math at the state level. I also competed in Quiz Bowl at the National Conference last year. I think it is vital for students to have this opportunity to showcase their knowledge and skills outside of the classroom, and SkillsUSA is the perfect way to do that for CTE students. I’m looking forward to representing SkillsUSA Vermont as your Vice President this year.
